PERSONALITY TRAITS
Nova is a very unique and special girl. She had a horrible start to life very early on. Because of this she needs a person(s) that will give her special attention, lots of patience, not force her into unfamiliar
situations and let people know not to interact with her until she is ready. She needs to know they will
not abuse her. Nova is not a dog for everyone – she needs a very special kind of understanding
human(s).
She needs:
• Consistency with <positive reinforcement> training and routine
• Time to adapt to new situations/things/people – all must be taken slowly
• Needs to be on leash when meeting new people, letting her use her nose to smell people from a distance.
• Due to her excitement level needs slow intro to other dogs
• Child-free environment
She is:
• Medium-high energy level
• Dog friendly
• Improving meeting new people
Once you bond with Nova she will be your best friend. She is very loyal and she will let you do anything to her once she trusts you. You will have a very faithful companion. When she gets past her
fears she knows her commands and she walks well on a leash. It just takes consistency and some time
but it’s worth it.
Are you interested in meeting Nova...understanding her needs in order for her to succeed? If so, please
contact Dan the Dog Trainer (above). She is a wonderful pooch – you will not be sorry!
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 2 years
GOOD WITH: Other dogs with proper introduction; no kids, cats or other small animals

Charles- AUG 2024 PAWS PRISON
PROGRAM GRADUATE!

CHARLIE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
CHECK OUT HIS FINAL CGC TEST VIDEO LINK BELOW!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Charles is a PAWS graduate!
PAWS Weekly Summary Week 7 :
This week Charlie has been doing exceptionally well. Charlie still struggles a bit with engagement due to having a great personality and waiting to say hi to everyone. Charlie and Wilson are also best friends so when they see each other it can be a big distraction in circles. We will be working this week on giving less treats to Charlie to prepare him for his final CGC test next Saturday. Charlie seems to respond quite well with all the commands except stand-stay inspection without using treats. We hope with a lot of work this week he will be ready for his test.
8/3/24 Daily Journal Entry
Today Charlie seemed to be adjusting okay to us giving him less treats for rewards. We have been practicing all the CGC’s with him and he’s doing great. The only thing that he still seems to struggle with is CGC 3 which is standing inspection. He lacks duration. That’s something that the team is focused on practicing with him..
Charlie is a lover and would love to be showered with attention – after a day of playing and exploring, that is. He is a smart boy and can entertain himself for hours. He is eager to please, easy to handle, and is torn between soliciting affection or playing with his person. All he wants is a loving home with people to call...FAMILY!
What more can we say? If Charles sounds like the missing piece to your family puzzle please submit our pre-adoption application.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 2 years
COAT LENGTH: Short
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and micro-chipped.

Frappe- OCT 2024 PAWS PRISON PROGRAM GRADUATE!
CHECK OUT MY PAWS CGC VIDEO LINK!
Frappe is available for adoption!
Check out her final CGC test video link below!
PERSONALITY TRAITS
Frappe is energetic and fun! This girl is around 45 ish pounds. Frappe arrived to BBBR recovering from a bad skin infection, and looks so much better! Her fur is growing in nicely. She will need a good diet to maintain her healthy coat.
BBBR Vol Jada writes, "Frappe is a caffeinated ball of fun that is sure to jumpstart your day. Frappe is full of that unhindered puppy excitement but matches your energy and will settle if you meet her with a calm energy. She enjoys all types of play with toys as well as the water. Frappe is very food motivated and will completely refocus her attention when you redirect her with food. She clearly shows a strong drive to learn which will make training much easier. This girl definitely has a lot of energy, but I feel that in a home environment with proper outlets for this energy through both mental and physical exercise she will be a great companion. Despite her energy level, this kiddo is kitty friendly!"
PAWS FINAL WEEK REPORT-
Frappe
Weekly Summary- Week Six
This was a great week for Frappe. She was not only able to have great play sessions with all of the dogs, but was also able to work with the new handlers. During the process of working with the new handlers we were able to identify some confusion in Frappe’s training and work on some of her misunderstandings. By the second day she was able to show her generalization in being able to work with anyone regardless of their knowledge of training. We have very high hopes for her final CGC’s Next week.
09/27/24 Daily Journal Entry
Frappe had a much better day today. After the training session last night, we were able to identify some possible issues she may have in her training. We worked on her basic commands in different situations, highly rewarding successful attempts. Then tonight, we allowed the apprentice trainers another chance to work with her. It was a huge success tonight! Everyone left feeling great, most of all Frappe who had a very full belly.
BREED: Bully breed blend
AGE: 2 years
HEALTH: All rescue dogs are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped
GOOD WITH: Other dogs, cats; older (10+) respectful children; other small animals unknown

JuneBug - OCT 2024 PAWS PRISON PROGRAM GRADUATE!
CHECK OUT MY PAWS CGC VIDEO LINK!
Junebug is available for adoption!
Junebug is FUN! This lady loves her humans and wants to parrrtayy! Junebug is a recent PAWS graduate. She scored a PERFECT 10/10 on her final CGC test! Check out her CGC test video link below!
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Junebug arrived to BBBR with her friend Maui. They very much liked each others company, and found comfort in being kenneled where they can see one another. Maui has since been adopted but we feel Junebug will thrive and love the company of mello medium to large sized dogs with a slow and proper introduction!
PAWS FINAL WEEK REPORT
Week 7 has come quick and Junebug is getting close to leaving with a whole new set of skills and obedience training. When she originally came to us, she was not savvy of basic skills such as loose lead walking, basic commands, or keeping attention. She use to grab the lead and try to play tug of war with her handlers and wasn’t fond of calm walking. With a lot of patience and determination we have tackled a lot of issues such as this and now she is one of the most obedient dogs I have trained and is always walking on my side. She stills has some work to be done when it comes to kennel training and her separation anxiety. We have improved this a lot with some high value or toys/chew bones in her kennel but still needs consistent monitoring. I noticed that she loves to get quick hellos from everyone she passes but doesn’t want to get to much affection. On the other hand, if she knows you well and is familiar, she will want lots of attention and love. She loves to play fetch and she always brings the toys back for you to throw them again. Sometimes she likes to play keep away but nothing a little treat won’t convince her otherwise of. She enjoys walking around and sniffing new areas. Whenever we see turkeys or deer, she gets hyper focused and loves to watch them silently for as long as you’ll let her.
Junebug knows all her basic skills (sit, stay, down, come, recall, heel, stand, come-about). She does well with distractions and a firm ‘leave it’ command and she will come back to you, sometimes you need to give it a few moments and a little pull on the lead. As for tricks she knows bang (hand shaped like a gun and pointed at her), shake, double shake (with a kibble in your left hand, and one hand out), and jaws (use your left hand and imitate a mouth biting motion), and a little bit of spin, (which spin your hand around her head quickly). I think Junebug will make a great dog for someone who wants a nice calm energy dog, who’s willing to spend a lot of quality time with her, whether it’s playing fetch, letting her chew on toys, or nice walks outside, she will love the company. She plays great with all of the other littler dogs here, 40 and 50 pounders.
10/5/24 Daily Journal Entry
Junebug did great on her CGC! She maintained her duration and manners through the test. During cgc 8 (interaction to another dog), she got a little excited and wanted to play with her friend Brittany, but with a quick command she listened and sat at my side. She did so good she got a peanut butter biscuit treat at the end. What a good Junebug!

Wilson is available for adoption!
Weekly Summary Week Seven- CHECK OUT HIS FINAL CGC TEST VIDEO LINK BELOW!
Wilson scored an impressive 8/10 on his final CGC test at PAWS!
Wilson has come a long way since his arrival here. With only about a week remaining of training, we are going to do everything we can to get him ready for adoption. He has transformed a lot from day 1, from his pulling on the lead, to his response to his name called. He has done great at learning sit, down, stay, stand, come, and soon to be a few tricks. Wilson has spent a good amount of time indoors this week due to the hot weather, and when he’s not training, he loves to cuddle and relax by his handlers. He is going to make someone such a happy dog owner, and I think if he finds another dog, and warms up to them, he will make a best friend quick. Wilson and Charlie have had a great time being together. It really showcases his fun, play side that every owner wants to see in the dog. The plan for the coming week is to get Wilson CGC ready, although I think he will already do fantastic. Also we will be teaching him a few tricks.
7/31/24 Daily Journal Entry
During the circle today Wilson did fantastic on all of his skills and commands. His come-about is improving and CGC’s 1, 2 and 3 are amazing. We even did introduction to another dog, Charlie in this case. And knowing how much Wilson and Charlie love each other, I expected them both to break, wanting to play, but they both stayed in sits while handlers shook hands, very impressive.

Nyomie- NEW STAR STUDENT AT PAWS PRISON PROGRAM!
Nyomie is available for adoption!
Volunteer Jada reports-
"Nyomi is a small bundle of pure muscle, she is adorable and very strong! This gorgeous girl is looking for an active family and would make an excellent hiking buddy. She is a sweet girl who is food motivated and would greatly benefit from training to help with things like pulling on lead. Nyomi matches the energy of those around her and would do well with a calm confident person to guide her. She hasn’t shown much interest in toys since arriving at the facility but I do think with time, once she settles she will become for interested in them. She has the most regal and proud trot and sports the biggest pittie grin!"
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
The shelter reported- Nyomie is a super sweet, pretty little gray girl that was on the euthanasia list...for today (9/2)! Thanks to our supporters and volunteers we were able to pull her from the shelter and give her another chance at life. People have failed Nyomie and she needs a loving family/person to love and care for her and BBBR is going to give her that opportunity!
Nyomie is a very sweet but shy girl that may be more playful in her (future) home. Keep in mind she has had a rough life and not been treated very well. Her eyes tell a story and it's not a very happy one. Despite her less than desirable beginnings, she has not let it ruin her. She is the sweetest, softest girl that shelter staff feel would do well living with respectful children of all ages. Nyomie is good with other dogs, enjoys off leash doggy playgroups, knows basic commands and is house and leash trained.
Please submit our pre-adoption application if you are interested in meeting Nyomie.

Sancho
Sancho is available for adoption!
From Foster mom and volunteer, Jada-
"Sancho has been with us for a few months now and has come so far! When we first got him it was pretty apparent that he wasn’t used to living in a home environment. It is safe to say he is loving the cushy life, but he still loves to spend his days basking in the sun in a good ol’ patch of dirt haha! Sancho is such a sensitive and affectionate dog. He loves to cuddle, give kisses and is so in tune with human emotions. He is the best pick me up when you are having a bad day and guaranteed to put a smile on your face with his goofy antics. We have worked a lot on establishing boundaries with him inside and outside the house as well as out in public. While he is allowed on the furniture he knows what “off” means, he also understands to move away when we tell him to “go” if he is trying to beg for food or gets under foot in the kitchen for example and will walk away. We have also been working on teaching a "place” command for situations like answering the door, vacuuming or just settling when we need him to stay put. His favorite things are still toys and playing in the water and we continue to improve his “out” command for games like tug and play with the flirt pole and he is doing so well. He does have his mischievous moments when he is bored and he looks to entertain himself but redirects so well. He does so well out in public as well and loves to hang out on the patio at Boise Juice Co. or pick out new toys from Northwest Pets. Overall he is a pretty easy going guy and is a joy to have around. He also has recently become a big Boise State fan, Go Broncos! ;)"

Blue- NEW ARRIVAL AND NEW STAR STUDENT AT PAWS PRISON PROGRAM!
Blue is available for adoption!
Blue is a young cute girl, just 7 months old. Here is what the PAWS team is reporting on just week 4 of training Blue!
Weekly Summary – Week 4
Blue has made a lot of progress in her training this week. She has learned all the basic commands and is doing them reliably. She is struggling a little with her duration but we are working on extending that every day. We are going to take our time moving forward with her training, to create a strong foundation. Blue continues to be one of the calmest puppies I’ve ever worked with, but as a puppy she is still a little nervous about new and unfamiliar things. So far she is not a big fan of eye glasses, hair brushes, and strange bugs and amphibians. We will work on getting her used to most of these things, the frogs may be a lost cause though.
10/30/24 Daily Journal Entry
So Blue is doing really well with her training so far the only thing that I can really see to work on this weekend is duration, she is like any other puppy and her patience is lacking so we will work on that this weekend and see how that goes. On another note she met her first little baby frog and it startled her it was adorable but I don't think she likes frogs anymore now.

Lily- NEW STAR STUDENT AT PAWS PRISON PROGRAM!
Lily is available for adoption!
Click the link below to watch Lily play!
Volunteer Jada reports-
Lily is a sweet girl. She has been a bit nervous in confined spaces like her kennel, but once she is out in the yard she warms up quickly. She didn’t show too much interest in treats but I think it was due to some anxiety from transport and settling into a new environment. I think that once she feels more comfortable her food motivation will increase. She was very toy motivated and had lots of fun playing with the squeaky ball and zooming around the yard. While she was pretty distracted at first in the new yard with all the new smells, she frequently came to check back in with me and took the time to get some pets. She will take some time to settle into a home but once she feels comfortable she is a total sweetheart!
PAWS update Week 2-
Weekly Summary
Lily has been doing great this week. We started her formal training and she is progressing very quickly. We have a team that is all on the same page with helping her in the shaping process and she has done great with connecting our expectations with what she is willing to do. Sit, heel, about turns and left about turns are what we worked on for her first week. She has shown some issues around gun shots, she hears them in the distance and gets a little scared and shuts down. We were having some success getting her out of that state by just walking with her until she comes out of it. We are careful not to pet her, give her food or anything that might reinforce that state of mind making it more comfortable for her to be there. Within 5 or so minutes of just walking with her she was back to her prancing self. She has also started getting introduced to non-program residents at the facility and she is just a love-bug! Last, but certainly not least, Lily was able to play with 3 other dogs at once this week. She played so well in the pack and is usually leading them all in a race or into forbidden areas! She is such a fun and lovey dog we are all so happy with her here.
Daily journal 10/23/24
Lily got to play with Geppetto and Biscuit today! She has so much fun. It was so nice for her to get out and run, she needs to be in a place where she can run even if she is just chasing something. She did wonderful with respecting the dogs boundaries and not playing too rough. She had a blast!

Biscuit- NEW STAR STUDENT AT PAWS PRISON PROGRAM!
Biscuit is available for adoption!
Biscuit is an adorabull, healthy boy that has a great zest for life! He came to the shelter as an owner surrender but the back story is he was picked up by oil field workers as a stray and hung out with them at an oil field rig for about 3 weeks – until their rotation ended. They then brought Biscuit to the shelter. (We thank them for not just leaving Biscuit to fend for himself!)
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Biscuit is a big goofy guy whose limbs seem to have a mind of their own, flying in all directions as he gallops around the yard. He can be slow to warms up to new people mostly around his kennel. But once out in the yard where he has the freedom to create space for himself he opens up quickly. Biscuit is both toy and treat motivated and knows some basic commands. He is great when it comes to giving the toy back in order to continue the game of fetch. His silky smooth fur is perfect for endless petting while he relaxes, sitting on your feet. Biscuit would do best in a home with older kids and has previously lived in foster with other dogs.
The shelter and foster family reported-
Notes from the shelter: “Biscuit is a big, snuggly meatball who has done great with other dogs, is lovely on leash, is adorable with his toys and is outgoing with people. He’s not *that* giant, but he is thick. He is medium energy at best. He is 3 years old and weighs 90 lbs. We are happy to run down more info or do more vetting to increase his chances of being selected. He’s a cool dog, seems well-suited for almost any home. Kids are a-ok (maybe older if better though because of his size)”
Former Foster Family- “Biscuit is big and bouncy but when tuckered out (just a walk or a swim in the water) is a great snuggle. He's great on leash, totally house trained, and tolerates his kennel very well (he eats in his kennel, sleeps there overnight, and is kenneled when left alone). He is a lover of all dogs (he's in foster with a rescue director so has lived with about 30 dogs over the last 4 months) and is pretty respectful if dogs don't want to play. He is absolutely safe with little dogs, we recently had an adult 6 lb-er and she absolutely dominated him. Biscuit is living with 4 cats, has no interest in them, if they often end up sleeping on the couch together.
Biscuit loves water, loves fetch and tug, and gives great kisses! He's very human attuned and eager to bond with his someone, though is more comfortable with women than men. Biscuit does startle at loud noises/commotion and can be a nervous fellow in new situations. He spent a week with an 7 year old and was almost immediately comfortable with her. He’s good in the car, mostly quiet, oozes loads of joie de vivre and has become a wonderful, proper pet. He is not destructive in the house and doesn't have any situational anxiety that we have seen. His recall is perfect and he enjoys lots of off-leash time too. He has been in foster since 4/6. He was at risk for euthanasia in the Pecos Animal Shelter.”

Geppetto- NEW STAR STUDENT AT PAWS PRISON PROGRAM!
Geppetto is available for adoption!
From BBBR vol Jada-
Geppetto is such a character, how could you not love those ears with a mind of their own! Geppetto is a young playful pup who is deaf, but that doesn’t hold him back one bit. He is pretty carefree and loves to bounce around the yard playing with toys. Even though Geppetto will learn slightly differently than most dogs, this boy is very smart and will need a family who will be willing to take the time to learn along side him. He is very food motivated which makes training so much easier and he is already responding to some basic hand signals. He absolutely loves playing with toys and has plenty of energy to play for hours but with direction will calm down and is happy to sit by your side for affection. He is very sweet and affectionate and will provide endlesss entertainment.
The shelter reported-
This big boy is a big, silly squishy pup that likes to rub up against you like a kitty cat! He is affectionate, playful and like the squishy boy he is he likes the squishy toys, too! His ears have a mind
of their own and he will keep you laughing as they bounce around as he plays! They're hilarious!!! He has a wonderful imagination and loves to make up his own games.
This handsome boy is deaf he is not that great at playing fetch but...he is a whole lot of fun to play with and he “looooves” his people. He is in doggie playgroups with both male and female dogs. The right training for both Geppetto and his new
family will help set him up for success and just like the story, they will live happily ever after!
He came into our (shelter) care after he was found tied to a pole. The finder thought he was dead at first
because he did not respond to shouts or calls. The animal control officer realized the dog was sound asleep and most likely deaf.
Geppetto is not getting the mental and physical stimulation he needs as a
special needs dog in an overcrowded shelter and is showing signs of kennel stress. Geppetto needs a committed adopter or foster that is willing to work with his special needs and help him become the
successful family companion we know he can be. He is in doggie playgroups with playful dogs and his playful social attitude has made him a shelter favorite. He doesn’t always understand cues from his
fellow doggie friends as he cannot hear them but he is not confrontational and seems to read their body language well.
Geppetto does great with both male and female doggie friends.

Bruce- NEW ARRIVAL!
Bruce is available for adoption!
Thank you Jada for the handsome photos of Bruce!
Volunteer Jada reports-
"This handsome stud melts every heart that is lucky enough to meet him. Bruce's personality is really starting to shine through as he settles in. He is an 11 year old, mostly blind senior, but you would never guess after spending even just a few minutes with him. He is spunky, playful, confident and best of all so incredibly sweet. Bruce takes a little bit of time to get used to new environments but once he gets a lay of the land his adorable personality shines. Despite being mostly blind, he adapts quickly. Bruce can be a bit picky when it comes to food and isn't overly food motivated, unless it is really high value. But he is very responsive to his name and is fantastic at following your voice and responds quickly to being called. He enjoys soft squeaky toys and really shows his playful side with them. Bruce loves to cuddle up on the couch and burrow his snout right into the crook of your arm. He is such a sweet boy and everyone that has met him has fallen head over heels for him!"
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
You really can't get more of a perfect senior dog, than Bruce. We are not just saying that.. he is a GEM.
Bruce arrived to us from Stockton Ca where he was found as a stray and sadly not claimed. It is mind blowing that no one came to pick up this sweet soul. He is such an EASY HAPPY guy!
Despite at 11 years of age and him losing his former life and everyone he ever knew and loved, Bruce is resilient, super friendly to all humans and not reactive to other dogs. Bruce is partially blind (or almost completely blind), but he still can have a great time, is playful and fun and enjoys toys. His hearing is on POINT!
Bruce would do best in a home solo or with other dogs that respect his age and can understand him bumping into things, both other pets and people. He can locate his food bowl and water, and doesn't have accidents in his kennel or an office area he was decompressing in when he arrived. We would say potty training he has down to a T.
Someone snatch this older gentleman up and give him the best golden years of his life! He in turn will give you the best years of your life with all his love. No puppy behaviors to work around, Bruce is turn golden key!

**What the shelter veterinarian had to say about Bruce's vision: Doctor suspects Progressive retinal
atrophy (PRA) is an inherited eye disease that leads to blindness in dogs. PRA is a non-painful condition that tends to progress slowly over time, often starting with a decreased ability to see well at night. While there is no cure available right now, most dogs adapt well to their vision loss and continue to have a good quality of life.
